Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I will be graduating in December. If I receive a scholarship, will I only receive half of the award?
No. One hundred percent (100%) of the scholarship funds awarded will be sent directly to your college or university in June/July 2026.

  2. I will be studying abroad. Am I eligible to apply for a scholarship?
Yes. Applicants studying abroad are eligible, provided tuition is paid to a Georgia college or university.

  3. What happens to the documents I submit with my application?
The names and dates of all applicants remain on file with the AAPA Scholarship Committee. All supporting documents are securely destroyed after three years.

  4. I am enrolled at my University and will be student teaching during the fall semester. Am I eligible to apply?
Yes. You are eligible if your university classifies your student teaching assignment as full-time enrollment and you meet all other eligibility requirements.

  5. May scholarship funds be used to pay sorority dues or fees?
No. Scholarship funds may be used for educational expenses only. Funds are sent directly to the college or university financial office and may not be applied to sorority-related expenses.

  6. Can I receive this scholarship more than once?
Applicants may be awarded one collegiate scholarship and one alumnae scholarship.

  7. I am currently in graduate school. May I apply for a scholarship?
Yes. Graduate students should apply using the Alumnae Scholarship Application.

  8. May more than one applicant from my chapter apply for a scholarship?
Yes. Multiple applicants from the same chapter may apply, provided each meets the eligibility requirements.

  9. I have not personally met my Sorority Chapter Adviser. How can I request a Letter of Reference?
While chapter advisers may not know every member personally, they are familiar with important aspects of your participation, such as academic standing, dues status, attendance, and fulfillment of chapter responsibilities. In unusual circumstances, the chapter adviser may designate another qualified member of her advisory team to write the Letter of Reference.

  10. Can my references submit their letters directly to you?
No. Applicants are responsible for obtaining all Letters of Reference and submitting them.

  11. When will scholarship recipients be notified? Will applicants who are not selected be notified?
All applicants will receive communication regarding their application status in early April.

  12. If I receive other scholarships or grants, will that affect my eligibility for an AAPAF scholarship?
No. Receiving other scholarships or grants does not affect your eligibility.

  13. Do I need to upload all parts of my application at the same time?
    Yes.
Beginning with the 2026 application cycle, all required documents must be uploaded during a single submission session. The submission form includes separate upload fields for your Application, Current Résumé, Unofficial Transcript, both Letters of Reference, and Headshot, and each field must be completed in order for you submit the form. Once you click “Submit,” you will not be able to return to the form to add or replace documents, so please ensure all materials are finalized and ready before beginning your submission.

  14. Will late applications be accepted?
No. Late submissions will not be accepted. Applicants are provided eight (8) weeks to prepare and submit their applications.
